Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Bookero collects, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. We keep it deliberately small — because the site itself collects very little.
Template notice. This is a general-purpose privacy policy provided as a starting point and for information only. It is not legal advice. Before launch, please review and adapt it to your exact setup with a suitably qualified adviser.
Who we are
Bookero ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at bookero.co.uk — a free, independent UK guide and tools site for booking flights and hotels for less. For any privacy question, email [email protected]. We are the data controller for the limited personal data described below, and we handle it in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect — and what we don't
We've designed the site to need as little personal data as possible. We do not run user accounts, we do not take bookings, and we do not process any payments. Specifically:
- Contact-form data. If you use our contact form, we receive the details you submit — typically your name, email address, a chosen topic and your message. We use these only to read and reply to you.
- Standard server logs. Like most websites, our host may automatically record technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps. This helps keep the site secure and running.
- On-device storage (localStorage). The cookie-consent popup and our tools may store small preferences in your browser — for example, your consent choice and any calculator settings. This stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- Calculator inputs stay private. The flight true-cost comparator and hotel true-cost calculator run entirely in your browser. The figures you type are not transmitted to us and are not stored on any server.
Lawful bases
We rely on the following lawful bases under the UK GDPR:
- Legitimate interests — to receive and respond to messages you send us, and to keep the site secure and working.
- Consent — for any optional analytics. We only set non-essential cookies if you accept them via the consent popup, and you can change your mind at any time.
Who processes data for us
We use a small number of service providers (processors) to run the site:
- Our hosting provider — stores and serves the website and may keep standard server logs on our behalf.
- Google Fonts — our pages load fonts from Google's servers, which means your IP address is shared with Google as part of that request. See Google's own privacy information for detail.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Cookies and tracking
We keep cookies to a minimum. Essential storage runs the site and remembers your consent choice; optional analytics are only enabled if you accept them. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. For the full picture, see our Cookie Policy.
How long we keep data
We keep contact-form messages only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up, then delete them. Server logs are retained for a limited period by our host for security and troubleshooting. On-device storage stays until you clear it in your browser.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, and to data portability where it applies. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
Children
Bookero is intended for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "last updated" date above when we do, so it's worth checking back.
